Black and white photogtaph of First Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri. Brick building with limestone foundation. View of front. Large stained glass window in center with round windows above it in the gable. Entry is at the right under the steeple and appears to have a wrought iron gate across it. Part of the street is paved with bricks and the street car tracks may divide in front of church. A man is walking on sidewalk. Measurements/Size: 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". Material/Color: Emulsion on paper affixed to cardboard, sepia tone. Emulsion peeling off paper. Machine made.

Stoplight in center of intersection with man leaning on it, possibly controlling it. Missouri US 66 sign attached to stoplight. It may be a portable stoplight brought in for the occasion. Springfield-Conway marathon on Route 66. Colonial Hotel on left side of street in photo.

Photograph of Springfield artist Raymond K. Kennon, standing, and New York City artist George Schreiber, seated, sketching a landscape. The photograph likely was taken in colder weather judging from the men's outerwear. Measurements/Size: 8" x 10". Material/Color: Paper emulsion. Machine made.Schreiber was in the area painting scenes of Missouri sponsored by Mayfield's Dept. Store in St. Louis.

Black and white photo, a character portrait by Eleanor Cox of Oliver James Corbett, Springfield artist, 1886-1969. He was a decorator and contractor as well as a landscape artist. One of his Swan Creek landscapes was purchased by the Democratic National Committee to give to President Harry Truman in 1952 at the 35th division reunion. It is hanging over the piano in the Truman home in Independence MO. Corbett's painting of the public square, Court House, and Bell Tower is hanging in the History Museum office. It was painted from an old photo of the square.

Decatur, a teacher at Lincoln School, was the first African American to teach in the Springfield Public Schools' formerly white schools after desegregation in 1954. RESTRICTED ACCESS. There is a streetcar in the background that says "state" on it. Electrical lines are visible. There is a drug store in the background

Looking south of Boonville St. toward the Public Square. On the left side there is Gottfried Furniture store. Next we have the Salvation Army. On the right side there is Sigl-r Drug Co., next is a barber college, next is a bakery and Carpenter Headquarters, ( both in the same building) and last is the Lines Music Co. Boonville St. is brick paved with parallel parking on both sides. Double street car tracks. On the right side of the street is a motor driven piece of Springfield Gas and Electric Co. equipment. 6.5 X 4.5 inches.

The photo shows the parade going south from the square on South Street near the corner of Walnut, looking east. Systematic Savings and Loan Co. Hopper Beauty Academy, Mosleys Typewriter, Peterson's Dry Goods Store, and Hocklander Jewelry Store in the background. The float is followed by what maybe one of the Springfield H.S. Drum and Bugle Corps. 8 inches x 10 inches. Black and white.
