Sepia print ,mounted on cardboard, of a brick church with a bell tower. Photo taken when the dozen or so trees around it were without leaves. A two-story building is in the background and a picket fence is in front. There appears to be a sidewalk in front and there are limestone curbs at the edge of the street. It is a photo of St. Paul M.E. Church South on the SW corner of South and Walnut taken between 1885 and 1904. Measurements/Size: 2 7/8" x 3 3/8" on 3 1/2" x 4 3/8" scalloped cardboard with gold on edges. Material/Color: emulsion, paper affixed to cardboard/sepia tone. Photo may have been reversed. The Famous Grocery; 328 South Campbell Avenue, and the Famous Meat Market also occupy this two story brick building. At the top of this building is a plaque which reads " L. T. Watson 1885 " This would indicate the builder of this building. At the rear of the building is a sign that reads " Ice Cream and Candy " On the pole in front of the building is an electric street light. Also on the pole is a sign that reads " Campbell " There is a boy sitting on a safety bicycle near the stone curbing. He is wearing " Knickers " There are thirteen people in the picture. Of interest is a boy crossing the street carrying some books.
