Black and white photo made from a newspaper clipping of the Calm Chat Club 42nd Anniversary meeting. In the photo, l-r, are: Roberta Bartley, Cordia Penn, Roseana Williams, Zelma Graham, Daisy Jenkins, Frankie Anderson, Modene Johnston, Mildred Robinson, Ruthie Pitts, Olive Decatur, Sue Simmons, Ollie Allen and Effie Hughes. The group was a litereary club formed in 1928 for female African- American teachers . Books were purchased, read and discussed and then given to the Black school. Other fund-raising activities were also conducted by the club.

Sepia tone photo of a former slave, Celia Sheppard, taken in 1902 when she was over 90. Posed at the southwest corner of Hampton Ave. and St. Louis St. She had been owned by the Henry Sheppard family who lived at 414 St. Louis St. Celia Sheppard lived with her son Sargent at 211 Hampton Ave. Sarge worked for the Anthony Tobacco Factory at 605 St. Louis St. The photo was given to Charles Sheppard's mother by Mary Dean Anthony. Note the clothing which was typical for slave women throughout the south.

Men are identified as (Front row - l-r): Clarence Looney, Robert Duncan, Homer Boyd, Floyd Hardin. Back row (l-r): Karl Thompson (coach), Walter Thompson, Otto Vaughn, Noble Clay, E.A. Manier. Back of photo reads: "Patton Dairy town team in March, 1951, later sponsored by Foremost [Dairy] until 1968. Played in three state area. Coach is Carl Thompson."
