Black and white photo, mounted on cardboard,of a street fair in Ash Grove, MO. A parade including horses and buggies, some decorated with flowers, are passing by a reviewing stand on Main Street.

2001-424
A black and white photo taken by Hayward Barnett of a statue of a young boy holding a frog. This figure was carved out of Carthage marble and placed on a pedestal in the center of the lily pool at Phelps Grove. The statue was created to commemorate Mrs. Phelp's work with Civil War orphans. Mrs. Roberta Stoneman Baker was commissioned to do the piece. Dedication ceremonies took place on April 22, 1956.

View looking down middle of Main Street in Ash Grove, Missouri. A horse-drawn carriage is in the middle of the street. On the reverse side of card, it is difficult to decipher name card is addressed to. Card was sent to Dunnegan, Missouri. 3" X 5". Sepia tone postcard.

Two separate letters and one envelop from J.F.G. Bentley to Tryphena Bentley. Folder contains one letter, dated 10/19/1869, written from Ash Grove, and another letter dated 10/20/1869 written from Springfield. Envelope is post marked "Springfield MO, Oct. 20."

Two minie balls or bullets, grapeshot found at Phelps Grove Park. The park is on the site of the farm owned by John S. & Mary W. Phelps and was an active site during the Civil War.The area is Grand to Battlefield, Glenstone to Campbell, 1500 acres.

Black and white photo of the Ash Grove Rifle and Revolver Club (this info is written on photo, with date-3/25/31). Three women are in the group; one of them is posing with her camera-all others are posing with their guns. Photo inscribed "14 of the 53 club members present," and Chas. L. Leeper is named as president.

A '94 Marlin rifle from the career of L.R. Small, Deputy Sheriff of Wright County, Mountain Grove, MO. The rifle is a 1894 Lever Action with a 32-20 Caliber and varnished walnut stock. The serial number is : 357939. Made in New Haven, CT, the patent is dated Aug. 1, 1893. The sight is labeled: Marbles, Gladstone, Michigan.

Hand-written statement by J.F.G. Bentley in response to Ralph Walker. Also contains masonic lodge "Charges and Specifications" against Ralph Walker, plus numerous hand-written pages attempting to expel Walker from the Lodge. Folder also contains printed booklet titled "By-Laws and Rules of Order of Ash Grove Lodge No. 348 A.F.& A.M., located at Ash Grove, MO. Saint Louis; R.P. Studley & Co., Printers and Stationers - 1871."

Woman's long dress with long, cuffed sleeves. Each cuff has a button hole, but the buttons are missing. It has a round collar. The dress has a front opening. There are nine button holes for this opening, but all the buttons are missing. There are tucks in the front bodice. The dress in made of a grey and white striped heavy woven fabric. This dress was worn in the Ash Grove ca 1890.

A black nightstick/billy club with a brown leather strap belonging to L.R. Small, deputy sheriff of Wright County, Mountain Grove, MO.

A Colt Army Special Revolver, probably made around 1905, as that is the latest patent date. The revolver has checkered hard rubber grips, and an oval Colt motif, with a 32-30 caliber. A brown leather holster(2001-4.3) accompanies the revolver, which belonged to L.R. Small., deputy sheriff of Wright County, Mountain Grove, MO.

Letter of recommendation for Elwyn and Frank Bentley from E.D. Barclay, former Professor of Languages at Ash Grove College to Cecil F.P. Bancroft at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass. Folder also contains note from Cecil K. Bancroft to "Bentley" dated May 12, 1930, returning the original letter.
