Description/History:Boy's grey striped wool Norfolk jacket and knickers. The jacket is belted at the waist. The belt has two button holes and two buttons. There are four loops for the belt. Three bottons with buttons holes close the jacket in front. There is also a button hole on the left lapel. There is a breast pocket on the left outside front and two other pockets in front which have flaps. The sleeves have two bottons for decoration. The sleeves are lines with a light-weight fabric that has a pattern of alternating greenish stripes and bluish stripes. The rest of the jacket is lines with a havier, dark fabric. A label swen on the inside of the jacket reads, "Stillbetter, made is U.S.A., Lot 8, price $8.50 McCormich 2411 Brentwood." The knickers have a front flap opening. There is a button hole at both corners of the flap. Each corner has two button that can be used to close the flap, so the waist line can be adjusted. There are three button holes on the inside of the flap waist and five on the inside back wasit. The legs of the knickers are banded. Each band has one button and two button holes so the size of the leg opening can be adjusted. There are two pockets in front and one in back. This jacket and knickers were worn by Dr. C. F. McCormick ca 1900. He later became a Springfield educator and principal of Jarret Junior High for many years.
